Look at this piece of art! More than half a million dollars’ worth of white diamonds are placed on the classic court heels. It has been a painful and most precisive long process for the shoe designer Kathryn Wilson and Sarah Hutchings of Orsini Fine Jewelry. This has been claimed as the most expensive shoe ever made in New Zealand.
These $500,000 price tagged shoes will be for sale in a silent auction at Wilson’s 2013 autumn/winter collection launch in Auckland on Aug 4th, 2012. Proceeds from the sale will go to Ronald McDonald House, a charity organization.
The shoes will be displayed in a specially made Perspex box on the night and watched over by two security guards. I am now thinking about some Hollywood movie scenes of the stealing…haha…wow, it won’t happen.
The shoes look amazing for sure, however, it might not be suitable to wear after all. I guess that’s what most auctioned stuff end up — in a cabinet or glass shelf, for people to watch and appreciate.

Christian Siriano launched his 2013 ready to wear collection together with Gold shoe collection for Payless (the famous discount shop) at New York Fashion Week. From these super feminine designs, you can clear see the link between the artwork and ballet/dancing. The sparkle embellishments, the over size bow, the pastel colors, etc, all telling the beautiful stories – maybe some influence from the Cinderella? Siriano explained to the press that he wanted every piece of his collection to “feel as light, soft and romantic as the dancers on the stage and in the painting, but modern enough to be wearable by today’s elegant woman.”
Together with his clothing collection, his new ten different styles and colors of shoes have gained a lot of attention. They belong to Christian Siriano for Payless Gold Collection, which will be available in market in February, 2013. The shoes also inherent the influence from ballet and dancing, with all the delicious candy colors – pink, blue, creme, white… slim stripes, huge bow embellishment, metal embellishments like studs, rhinestones, and other details – which are matching the trend of shoes 2012 and shoes 2013.

Nine West Channel 9 will introduce 10 hours of programming in the next few months. On the site now, you can already watch a few short videos, from Runway behind the Scenes, shoe tips, to a series starring fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone called You’ve Been Prom’d. The six-episode series follows a group of high school seniors in Pennsylvania who applied to a Nine West contest and won shoes, gowns, and makeup sessions for their prom night. How exciting!!! I like the initiative of Nine West trying to build stronger engagement and relationship with target audience, the site looks beautiful too. However, maybe due to its early stage, there are less link between its branding site with this video site as well as shops. But looking forward to see more of their actions.

Now the dreams come true. The luxury fashion designer Christian Louboutin just unveiled Cinderella’s glass slipper. The “Cinderella” Diamond Edition will be released on Blu-Ray this autumn, to commemorate the event, Louboutin has been collaborating with Disney to create a limited edition shoes which will hit the counters in October.
The modern day glass slipper was previewed during the Paris Couture Fashion Week. Louboutin’s version of the shoes is not exactly the same as the original story to be completely transparent. Interestingly, the new shoes have a bit of oriental flavor in my opinion – feminine laces, Swarovski-crystals, glittering butterflies all seems like quite modern elements, of course plus Louboutin’s signature red heels. I don’t think the shoes will be produced for mass consumption; some rumors said there will be about 20 pairs – guess how much these will cost.
Louboutin explained about his inspiration, “Cinderella’s character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale.”
Apart from shoes, Disney together with Sephora are planning to launch the collection including color cosmetics, fragrances and nail products based on the stories. For those modern women who love fair tales, get ready to embrace and enjoy!

You tell me it’s a good thing or not – there are more and more shoe designs around, in the shops, online… yes, more online shoe shoppings… I can’t keep my eyes catching all the styles … too many…
However, for shoes, I have my own taste and standard what are good ones, what are suitable for me. I like beautiful things, unique things, but I don’t want disgustingly different, being different for the sake of being different. Love designer stuff, but as many other things, designers’ stuff sometimes suck too.. so you need to develop your own style.
As for example, wedges or say wedge shoes, they are absolutely amazing. Beautiful and breath taking as boots, sexy and flirty as high heels, comfortable as flats… what else you want to look for?
For me, there are three things I am looking for in wedges — wedge, color and material.
Fave Dove - Diavolina
The shape of wedge is critical for me. Even I have to look for hours, I need to find the perfect wedge till I take out my credit card. Some wedges have ‘not really wedgy wedge’, I don’t want a big chunk even heel, I want ‘wedge’, so the shape has to be wedgy, if you know what I mean. this Fave Dove from Diavolina has the perfect wedge shape, the grey color also make it a illusive beauty. Love it. Pair with almost everything.
Liliko - Siren
This panelled wood wedge is just to die for. Different color /material with the main part sold them to me immediately! Pair these with short shorts or tight skirts for a gorgeous summer look! get ready to be ‘watched’…
Darsha Cream Floral - Lipstik

When I first saw the image, I was like – WTF? What is all these? Who designed this and what was he/she thinking?
Adidas 'Slave' Sneakers
Jeremy Scott is the designer behind these controversial sneakers. I guess he really took the saying “slave to fashion” too literally. Almost causing headache, I could not figure out where the orange ankle cuff will lead to in this pair of sneaker. Scott explained that his design was inspired by a 1980′s children’s toy called “My Pet Monster” & his work has always been inspired by cartoons, toys & his childhood.

I can see the resemblance here, the fluffy creature does have the orange cuffs around its hairy wrists & could not move hands. I hope that his childhood didn’t include the part being hand cuffed.
Anyway, after Adidas post the image on Facebook page, outraged bloggers, commenters, writers flooded to the company’s Facebook page and set off the firestorm, criticizing Adidas for using an image resembling shackles & reminiscent of slavery, even Jesse Jackson weighed in with harsh words for the athletic giant - ”The attempt to commercialize and make popular more than 200 years of human degradation, where blacks were considered three-fifths human by our Constitution is offensive, appalling and insensitive…”
Adidas first tried to defend the design and the creator, saying it’s has nothing to do with slavery, just the designer’s quirky designs. But the storm didn’t go off as the company expected, later Adidas announced the shoes would be pulled from production and not hit shelves in August as planned, with the statement to the public -
“Since the shoe debuted on our Facebook page ahead of its market release in August, adidas has received both favorable and critical feedback. We apologize if people are offended by the design and we are withdrawing our plans to make them available in the marketplace.”
Lucky that they did listen to what customers are saying. Bad thing was how come they didn’t consider about it at the first place? I hope they feel free now!
